Learning Club Tutor SF181


Positions are available with an Australia-wide children's charity that helps disadvantaged children get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves.  Both roles involve tutoring of young children in local, Redlands schools.  Training and supervision are provided.



Provide one-on-one, or one-on-two assistance with homework and reading for students in Years 3-6 who attend the Learning Club - using training and resources provided by the Learning Club Coordinator.



  • Assist students in developing skills and knowledge in literacy and/or numeracy through school based tasks.
  • Help with setting up each week (tables/chairs/resources/fruit etc).
  • Assist with goal setting in collaboration with student and teachers.
  • Help students with resources provided to increase literacy skills and/or the completion of homework.


  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Friendly and positive attitude.

  • Love of reading.

  • Able to communicate well with young people.

  • Ability to work independently - as well as part of a team.


  • Understanding of factors affecting students from financially disadvantaged families.
  • Previous experience in working with children/youth.


  • Be available during School Terms: 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm on Wednesdays.
  • As part of agency's policy, volunteers require screening checks and training for these volunteer roles. This can include, but is not limited to, National Criminal History Checks and Working with Children Checks (Blue Card).
  • Applicants are informed of all legal and training requirements for the volunteer role during, or prior to, an interview.
